Food Hygiene Rating

This is our service for new businesses or new locations of existing food-related businesses. We help ensure that you will get a great food hygiene rating on your first inspection by your local Council’s Environmental Health Inspectors.

For a new start-up business, we will visit you and complete a full report telling you what to do before you open in order to achieve a 5 star Food Hygiene rating at your initial inspection. This will include advice on layout, structure and design.

Of critical importance to achieving a good Food Hygiene rating, we will prepare a Food Safety Management System (FSMS) – a mandatory item required by your Council’s Environmental Health Officers. This will be bespoke to your business and includes the full set of documentation daily check-lists you will need to demonstrate that your food-related operations are being conducted in compliance with the best Food Hygiene principles.

As part of this service we will help you through the registration process – including helping you to liaise with Environmental Health Officers prior to their initial visit(s).

Rescue or Improve my Food Hygiene Rating

If you have received a poor Food Hygiene rating following your scheduled inspection, we will complete a full on-site audit and report to determine what you need to do, in line with the Council inspector’s report to improve you rating.

This will detail the corrective actions you should take to get the best possible Food Hygiene rating from the Council – aiming for a 5 star Food Hygiene Rating.

We will hold your hand and provide guidance through the whole process to help you improve your Food Hygiene score before your next scheduled inspection or before requesting a rescore visit. This will include liaison with the Environmental Health Officer (EHO) at your local council.

Maintain my Food Hygiene Rating

Keeping on top of all the compliancy requirements to maintain your food hygiene rating can be a challenge. To make it easier for you we can provide an ongoing service where we ensure that everything continues to be in place, including daily temperature and cleaning recordings, allergen information and labelling, staff awareness of their individual obligations, dating of food and ingredients, and the rest. We ensure that all your records and checklists are in place, and perform ad-hoc spot checks.

For new clients where a Council inspection is imminent, we conduct an on-site audit – prior to the Council’s official Food Hygiene Rating inspection – of all food storage, preparation areas including cellars and bars to ensure you are ready for your scheduled inspection visit. This will include examination of all your existing food safety systems and control sheets.

Within five working days of the audit we will provide a report which lists all problems found at the time of the visit and a “to-do” list for you. This will detail the corrective actions you should take to get the best possible Food Hygiene rating from the Council – aiming for a 5 star Food Hygiene Rating.
